Who We Are
New Birth was founded on the principle that “Faith Honors God – God Honors Faith”. We believe in the Word of God and with all certainty know that Jesus Christ is Lord. New Birth is a Christ-Centered church – A perfect place for imperfect people.
The mission of the New Birth Baptist Church is to bring persons into a saving and redemptive relationship with Jesus Christ. We are a spiritual body whose only foundation is the Word of God. We fulfill our ministry as we preach and teach, pray and empower, forgive and reconcile. We seek only to be God’s agents of healing and wholeness in a wounded and fragmented world. Our main objective is to bring Glory and Honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
What We Believe
We believe the Scriptures teach that there is one living and true God, who exists as Trinity (there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost). There is unity of the Godhead, equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but congruent functions in the great work of redemption. (Matthew 28:19-20; 1 John 5:7)
We believe that Jesus is the Only begotten Son of God. We believe that Jesus is the God-human (wholly God and wholly human), who was born of the virgin Mary, died a substitionary death for the sins of humanity, was buried, raised from the dead, ascended back into heaven, and will return again. (John 3:16-17; Isaiah 53:5; 1 John 4:9)
We believe in the Spirit of God as the Comforter of the church and individual believers, who gives spiritual gifts to believers for the work of ministry, guides us in sanctification, and seals (guarantees our salvation) until Jesus returns. (John 14:26; 1 Corinthians 12:1-19; Ephesians 1:13)
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, and the author for Christian life and the Church of Jesus Christ.
We believe humanity was created by God, and in the image of God. (Genesis 1: 26; Genesis 2:7)
We believe the scriptures teach all human beings have been affected by sin, and are sinners from birth. Jesus Christ made a full atonement for our sins by his death on the cross and resurrection. All we have to do is put our faith in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, believing that he died for our sins and God raised him from the dead, and that person will receive the gift of salvation. (Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8, 12; Romans10:9-10; Acts 4:12; 1 John 4:15)
We believe the Scriptures teach that Sanctification is the process by which, according to the will of God, we are made partakers of his holiness; that it is a progressive work; that it is begun in regeneration; and that it is carried on in the hearts of believers by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, the Sealer and Comforter, in the continual use of the appointed means especially the word of God, self-examination, self-denial, watchfulness, and prayer.
We believe the Scriptures teach that a visible church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by his laws; and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by God’s Word.
We believe in two primary ordinances of the Christian Church: 1) baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, into the name of the Father, and Son, and Holy Ghost; to demonstrate our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, with its effect, in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; 2) the Lord\’s Supper (or Communion), in which the members of the church are to commemorate together the love of Christ (demonstrated through his sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection)- preceded always by solemn self-examination.
